Tomita 2021 s.v. ramkopastep and Kayano 1996 record ram-ko-paste-p ‘刀’. ramkopaste combines with the formal noun -p ‘thing / one’. Orannai, line 1254 has a-ramkobashte p, analyzed ‘我・思いのままに走らせる もの’ and translated ‘わが太刀を’; see aramkopastep. The attested sword designation and the proposed interpretation ‘a dependable thing’ are distinguished below. @mkpoli (2026-09-10) proposes *ramkopas ‘run with the heart → be dependable?’, ramkopaste ‘rely on’, and ramkopaste-p ‘a dependable thing’. The independent form *ramkopas and this semantic development remain unverified; the star and question mark belong to the proposal. This hypothesis does not determine the segmentation of initial イウ in Moshiogusa phrase 70.
