The cliff at Chisese is one of the two things the author names as worth stopping for on this coast, the other being the Katanakake rock seen from the old hot-spring settlement.

- mountain The great cliff behind the 敷島内 風の駐車場, also called the Wendomari cliff; rock-climbing meets have been held on it. The ward names 雷電ヘゲ山, 雷電ヒゲ山 and 雷電ハゲ山 appear on the land register for it. Kumano-yama lies beyond and its summit is not visible from here.
- shore The shore below, once called Wendomari, wen-tomari 'bad anchorage', which survives as a bus-stop name. A settlement and the Raiden primary school stood here, then a campground; only the parking area remains.

Taken as the shore of an inlet with a reef that could be called a standing rock, and referred to the coast northeast of the Oyakobetsu River, near Futatsu-iwa. The coordinates of 今井測量原図 agree with that position. Besides the red-frog rock and its neighbour that remain at Futatsu-iwa, one more large standing rock once stood beside the road and was blown up as a hazard.
Objections
- チセセ against チシヤ is hard to call either close or distant. 伊能図 has チセシリマイ, which the author reads from instead. — zenibako_trek zenibako_trek…
Neither part is carried in the proposed sense by the dictionaries consulted here, and the reading does not account for the ri of the fuller spellings.

伊能図's チセシリマイ supplies the ri that the other spellings lose, and gives chise-sir as the base. The referent is then the mountain behind: the great cliff visible from the parking area, which anyone arriving here cannot fail to see.
