「漬物」 in 萱野1996 (Saru), 富田2021, and the Mukawa material of 千葉2002, where it is recorded from 新井田セイノ and 吉村冬子; the Mukawa file also has the sentence cikena ku=kar akusu ku=rari wa suma kasi ta yanke 「漬物を作るのに、私は押さえつけて、石を上に乗せた」. No work states an origin. A Japanese source 漬け菜 tsukena fits the form and the sense: 精選版日本国語大辞典 gives 漬菜 as 「漬物用の菜。アブラナ、カブ、タイサイなど。また、漬物にした菜」, the second sense being the one the Ainu word carries, and つけ → cike- is the substitution seen in cikenki ← 付け木 (田村1996), in the same dialect Kayano records cikena in, with -na ← 菜. Nothing in the dictionaries supports a native analysis: no root kena is attested, and kina 「草」 would give cikina. The comparison is unproposed by any published work.
