Ikegami (2005:125–128) compares Ainu itanki with reconstructed Tungusic *itaŋgi. TMS I:333 groups the Oroch, Udege, Ulch, and Orok forms under the unstarred heading ИТАҢГӔ̄ 'saucer'. Onenko (1980:200) separately records Nanai итанги [itaŋgi]. Ikegami allows the possibility of borrowing from Ainu, so the direction remains unresolved. Tangiku (2010) reports no corresponding Nivkh form.
